The inaugural Social Enterprise World Forum was held in Edinburgh, Scotland from 2nd - 5th of September 2008. The goal of the Forum was to improve collaboration and communication amongst individuals and organizations that are committed to social and economic change through social enterprise.
Canada sent a strong delegation, led by David LePage of enp, based in BC.
Allyson Hewitt, Director of Social Entrepreneurship at the MaRS Discovery District, SiG@MaRS and Steve Cordes, Executive Director, Youth Opportunities Unlimited (YOU) based in London, Ontario, will present a debrief on what they learned at the Forum.
We are also very pleased to announce that the Province of Ontario will send an official from the procurement division to present a session on Doing Business with Government with an emphasis on social enterprises.
If time allows, we hope to engage you in a discussion on what this means for social enterprise in Ontario. Please be prepared to think about what you might contribute to this discussion.
Please join us on Wednesday October 8, 2008 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the MaRS Discovery District, 101 College Street, (College at University) in Collaboration Room 3 (CR3). There is no cost to attend this session but space is limited so please indicate your registration numbers.
We hope to see you there.
