Gerardo Marquez

Gerardo is the Senior Manager, Products and Services for the Advanced Energy Centre (AEC) at MaRS.
Prior to joining the Advanced Energy Centre, Gerardo was a project manager at the Alberta Electric System Operator, where he focused on large renewable energy and major infrastructure projects. His experience in the energy sector includes work with Comision Federal de Electricidad in Mexico, TransAlta in Calgary and General Electric, an organization that delivers power generation projects worldwide.
Gerardo holds an MSc in environmental management from Aalborg University in Denmark and a bachelors in electrical engineering from Tecnologico de Queretaro in Mexico. Gerardo is a registered professional engineer in the province of Alberta and is certified by the PMI as a project management professional. Gerardo is also a fellow at the Energy Futures Lab.
Gerardo is interested in energy transition, urban cycling, citizen empowerment and transgenerational learning. He is passionate about helping his community and was named Top 40 under 40 in Calgary by Avenue Magazine in 2014.
